Do I always need to use protection sleeves to protect my lifting equipment?

According to the EN-1492 regulations for safe use of round slings the sling should be protected on the anchoring point (shackles, pins, etc.) as well as the lifting appliance (crane hook). Slings should be protected from edges, friction and abrasion, whether from the load or the lifting appliance.

Therefore, Lift-Tex alsways advices to use protection sleeves. Protection sleeves lenghten life span of your sling. Furthermore, it is more economic and faster to replace protection than a round sling.

What is the difference between the EP-C and EP-L protection sleeves?

The EP-C protection sleeves are made from Cordura® and come in the color black. Cordura® is known for its resistance to abrasions, tears and scuffs. The jacket will be a perfect fit for lifting objects with higher temperature ranges: it has a service temperature range from -40°C up to +100°C , while still maintaining abrasion, wear and puncture resistant. The cut as well as chemical resistance of the Cordura®/Nylon cover & protections is very limited.

On the other hand, the EP-L series is made from bio-based Dyneema®. Dyneema® offers maximum strength combined with minimum weight. Dyneema® fiber floats on water and is extremely durable and resistant to moisture, UV light and chemicals.
